Controversial self-styled property guru Samuel Leeds has published a video on Instagram during which he and a group of eight people on a Discovery Day at his home address appear to break the current Covid-19 ‘group of six’ rules.
Since September 14th these have banned social gatherings of more than six people from meeting anywhere indoors or outdoors, but does not apply to schools, workplaces or Covid-secure weddings, funerals and organised team sports.
It is being enforced through a £100 fine if people fail to comply, doubling on each offence up to a maximum of £3,200.
But it is not clear whether a training course held by a private company like Property Investors for members of the public at a home – rather than a workplace – are exempt.
LandlordZONE has contacted the Cabinet Office for clarification on this point but we have been told it will take up to 20 days for a response.
The course this week at Leeds’ home was captured on camera and posted on Instagram showing eight people in his front lounge/dining room area, plus himself. It is not clear whether his wife and two children were in the property at the time.
Leeds has held several discovery days in the past prior to September 14th and are an extra income stream for the guru while his larger, free and paid-for events in hotel ballrooms are banned.
His company Property Investors charges those who attend these discovery days, which are held at his home address in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, £500.
Its website say this is ‘fully refundable’ on the day but then clarifies that the refund can only be set against the cost of future courses purchased from the company. These include three online courses which cost £995, £4,995 and £11,995.
LandlordZONE has sent an email to Property Investors asking for confirmation about when and where the video was filmed.
